Antique Early American Wooden Steamer Trunk With Cedar, Brass, Black Metal & Crushed Velvet

Hark back in time with this Early American antique relic, a solid wood flat topped steamer trunk completely restored. The mixture of materials and the trunks’ design of brass, metal, leather and wood make it an impactful statement piece.The exterior features edging of gold painted embossed black metal straps and brass tacks, and uniquely shaped scalloped brass features throughout along with leather strapping too. The lid fits tightly and is clasped with an antique lock, (key not included). The wood has been restored and refinished in a warm walnut tone.

The interior has been completely restored too with champagne colored crushed velvet lining the interior rim of the lid and base. Cedar planks line the interior making this trunk and excellent piece to store your precious heirlooms. Castors have been added to the base for easy movement to your desired spot.

The story behind this piece is it was my late great grandfathers trunk. I recall as a kid in the 70’s my mother receiving this piece, and being the exceptional artist and craft person she was –she spent months completely restoring the dusty, dilapidated piece in our front yard in Houston, Texas. For me, it’s time to let it go and let it be loved by someone else and hopefully that will you uI hope you’ll make this a “keeper” in your home!
