Silver Box by Simon Rosenau with a scene of 5 men drinking in the 17th Century Richly decorated silver box, interior covered with a yellow fabric, raised at 4 ball feet, decorated with grape leaves on the side and a scene on top of the hinged lid of a 17th century scene of 5 drinking and smoking men at a table and a dog lying before. The box can serve for all kinds of functions. As an example for the safety of the car key, a key box or a box to store beautiful things. The box is marked on the bottom with the hallmarks with crescent moon, crown, 930, master stamp Crowned SR, made by Simon Rosenau from Bad Kissingen 1862-1932, active for the Hahnau silver industry, among others. Rosenau was known for his preference for historical sets. It was imported to England in 1902 and marked by John George Piddington (dated 1902 and maker’s mark). Imported to the Netherlands again in the 20th century and hallmarked with Dutch silver hallmark ZI.
